Top of the World Restaurant

Author: nick21 - Categories: Las Vegas Restaurants

The Top of The World is an amazing experience. See the entire city of Las Vegas with a table in the 360-degree rotating restaurant. That’s right, in one hour and fifteen minutes, you can take in the breathtaking views of the Las Vegas Strip, Mount Charleston and beyond, all while enjoying a cocktail or dining on dishes by Executive Chef Mario Andreoni.

The Top of the World Restaurant is a great way to spend a relaxing lunch or dinner. For lunch, it’s great for business meetings, conventions, family reunions, a meal with friends or parties. It also features a private dining area for large parties.

When you’re in the restaurant, you feel a distinct sense of calm. . . no matter how many e-mails you have on your iPhone, no matter how many children you have with you, it doesn’t seem to matter. Hey, you’re on top of the world.

The Top of the World offers appetizers like stuffed portobella mushroom caps with pancetta and gorgonzola cheese, chilled prawns with papaya, Caesar salad, Kobe beef carpaccio with reggiano cheese, and lobster bisque. The Tower Salad includes mixed greens with Anjou pears, apricots, candied walnuts and balsamic vinaigrette.

Entrées include choices like filet mignon, surf and turf, lobster and crab ravioli and colossal shrimp. Seafood offerings include Dover sole almondine, pan seared sea bass with porcini mushroom dust, and salmon di parma.

Meat options include Mediterranean chicken and Colorado rack of lamb, veal paillard and Kurobuta pork chops. There are several beef courses, including filet mignon, prime rib, and surf and turf.

There is also a three-course prix fixe menu offered for lunch. At $30, it’s a great way to enjoy lunch in a panoramic setting, on a budget. The lunch prix fixe menu includes a salad or soup, second course items like sea bass or prime rib, and a dessert, like the berry delight.

Desserts are some of the richest in Vegas. Try the chocolate raspberry decadence, a flourless chocolate raspberry cake served on top of two Florentine cookies and filled with raspberry mousse. The dome-shaped cake is rich and fudgy, while the lattice cookies and fluffy raspberry mousse are gentle by comparison.

Other desserts include the signature Stratosphere Tower, made from chocolate and filled with a rich dark chocolate mousse and garnished with vanilla sauce, tableside. For something lighter, try the berry delight, fresh berries marinated in Grand Mariner, served in a martini glass with zabaglione and vanilla ice cream.

On the second floor, the Romance Lounge provides intimate cabana-style alcoves where small groups or couples can enjoy a cocktail while taking in breathtaking views. Live music is also featured.

Are you a high-roller? Try the Top of the World Martini. For $100, Hennessy, Paradis, Grand Mariner, and Ultima CV Vodka is shaken, not stirred. It’s safe to say, the elevator ride down is much more fun after you’ve tried the Top of the World Martini.

The Top of the World is a romantic place to take your loved one. Voted one of the 10 best places to pop the big question by USA Today, Top of the World works with you to make your special occasion an unforgettable one.

For lunch, Top of the World is casual. For dinner, the dress is business casual attire.

The great thing about a meal at The Top of the World is the atmosphere. The sense of calm and tranquility you get from floating stories up above the Strip is amazing. It’s almost a respite from the rest of your day - a vacation within a vacation in Vegas.

Las Vegas Aurora Bar

Author: nick21 - Categories: Las Vegas Bars

Inside the impressive Luxor Las Vegas Hotel Casino, there’s a new bar that’s been added to the Luxor bar collection, and it’s open 24 hours a day, every day.  The Aurora Bar often enjoys a mixed crowd of Vegas Strip revelers, no doubt drawing in high-end guests from Mandalay Bay and the more budget-minded guests from Excalibur.  It’s pretty hard to miss the Las Vegas Aurora Bar, as it’s bright blue neon sign beckons you just across the lobby.  You will likely see a fair-sized group intermingling here at any time of the day, and it’s a great place to have a good drink in a good place with a good vibe.  The Aurora Bar offers a nice assortment of trendy cocktails, as well as over 150 seats.

The Aurora Bar Luxor is just one of the new and exciting additions on the Luxor bar and nightclub scene.  The Luxor nightlife is better than ever, and as far as the Las Vegas casinos go, it’s got as much, if not more to offer than most.  Other new Luxor bar and nightclub hangouts that are quickly gaining the attention of locals and visitors alike are High Bar, Noir Bar, the LAX Nightclub and the Cathouse Nightclub.  The Aurora Las Vegas Bar takes its name from the impressive Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights.  The light display on the ceiling at the bar is intended to honor this natural phenomenon.

Improv Show in Las Vegas

Author: nick21 - Categories: Las Vegas Entertainment, Las Vegas Shows

Harrah’s Improv Las Vegas is a bit of a misleading title.  For real Las Vegas improv comedy, you’ll have to visit the Second City troupe at the Flamingo.  This is Las Vegas improv in name only.

Perhaps you’ve flipped through cable, late at night, only to come to rest on the A&E – breakthrough comedians like Richard Lewis or Kevin Nealon performing in front of a stark brick wall, carefully working through their set list as the crowd roars with laughter.  That’s what Harrah’s Improv Las Vegas is based on, the comedians lucky enough to make it to the stage no longer relegated to cable television, but able to reach a wide audience of Vegas tourists hungry for laughter.  So there’s not the possibility for disappointment that true Las Vegas improv comedy might breed – this Improv is the finest material these comedians have, and at severely discounted rates.

The price of comedy in Las Vegas, whether it’s Rita Rudner, Carrot Top or someone at the fringes like Anthony Cools, can sometimes be steep – so it’s a nice break to see tickets for Harrah’s Improv Las Vegas to come at a reasonable price for a show that lasts around an hour or so.

Though the performers at the Improv at Harrah’s shift constantly, you’ll likely recognize at least one or two of them.  Each week brings a new team of three comedians in Harrah’s theater, each one at the top of their game and ready to keep you in stitches.   As you might expect from something in Vegas shows, there’s an age limit for the Improv, as the comedians are left to their own devices and allowed to discuss whatever subjects they wish.  Thus, if you are under the age of 18, you’d better find something else to do.

The Improv Las Vegas opens its doors to two shows daily (except Mondays) at 8:30 and 10:30 pm.
